Warn event organizers about potential conflicts

Previously it was difficult to know if an event could potentially conflict with others that are happening without needing to have the event calendar up at the same time.

Upon choosing selecting the start time for an event, Roller Derby Calendar will inform the organizer of any potential conflicts.

Inform officials viewing event calendar of their application status

Officials are already able to view all their applications via the officiating applications page, but similar to event conflicts it would require officials to keep their eye on two separate pages when deciding to apply to events.

With this change we provide additional context to logged in officials about events in the event calendar.

There are three main statuses to be aware of:

  • Accepted: The league organizer for that event has accepted your application and/or added you to a roster
  • Conflicts with another event: You have already been accepted to officiate another event. You should not apply to officiate this event
  • Possible conflict: You have applied or have withheld an application to another event. Applying to this event may run the risk of being double booked

These statuses are also conveyed while viewing events in the calendar view, though they are not as information dense due to the limited size available within the calendar itself.

Include calendar invites in acceptance emails

Upon being accepted to officiate events, officials already receive an email containing information about being rostered. Roller Derby Calendar will now include a calendar invite that officials can use to add to their calendar as another reminder. Depending on the officials mail client, they may immediately see a large calendar invite before the messages content.

A calendar invite will use the earliest start time and latest end time of your games to make it clear what an officials commitments are. Invites also include any event details that were added to an events description and link off to the roster for the event.

Note: As of right now calendar invites do not get updated automatically when event details change.

Bugfixes to bout management

  • Addressed bug where removing an empty timeslot would prevent a bout from being created or updated
  • Addressed bug where custom multiple-choice questions would only keep the last entry
  • Addressed bug where the same official would be listed multiple times when viewing crew assignments
